Amouage – Honour Man is a masculine fragrance built on pepper and dry woods, the counterpart to Honour Woman and, in Amouage's own words, a filial elegy to the honour and memory of Madame Butterfly — a story of reconciliation told in spice rather than flowers.
The fragrance opens with pink pepper and black pepper, a sharp, dry and immediately assertive introduction with no sweetness to soften it.
At its heart, geranium, nutmeg and elemi add a green, resinous spine that keeps the peppery opening from thinning out.
The dry down settles into patchouli, frankincense, cedarwood, vetiver, tonka bean and musk, a woody-resinous base with a faint warmth underneath the dryness.
Best Worn: Formal evenings, the office in cooler months, and occasions that call for something serious and composed.
